Last week I was fortunate enough to get some of the few remaining medlars at the Santa Monica Farmer's Market. Brought by Winnetka Farms for probably 1 time only this season, they are true to the rumor. They taste like an amazing cinnamon applesauce, rich and delicate. They're still in the process of bletting (i.e. ripening) on my kitchen sink.
Wow! I have never tried them. I would love to find them. How lucky you are! :D
